Certain foods should be avoided when consuming Ayahuasca. However, other than following generally accepted prohibitions, most shamanic centers pay minimal attention to the food being served.
At Dawn of Eden, we know the menu plays an important role in one’s ceremonial work. For that reason, we arranged for Fernanda Guevara, an international “Holistic Chef” to come to Iquitos to develop our menu and train our cooking staff. Every meal is visually appealing and sensationally delicious and each has been tailored with local, “Ayahuasca-friendly” ingredients to provide optimum nutrition.
Some centers in Iquitos use less than desirable products like “soy” or “vegetable” oils of questionable nature. Worse are those who use unfiltered water in their food preparation.
Dawn of Eden uses only purified water and follows the practice of soaking and sprouting grains and legumes to activate the highest nutritional content. This allows us to offer “super foods” that are easy to digest while contributing to the cleansing process in support of our ceremonial work.
Our menu is mostly vegetarian but includes some local fish and chicken for participants who are not vegetarian. Considerable attention has been placed on the vegetarian content of our meals. This allows those following a strict vegetarian diet to receive the nutritional support they need throughout the cleansing process.
Special attention has been given to the dishes served prior to ceremony and the day following. For example, a very light and nourishing soup is ideal the day after ceremony when little food is desired.
The intention with which your food is prepared is important. You will find only a genuine caring environment within Dawn of Eden’s kitchen. And, you will be greeted by a smiling kitchen staff at every meal as they lovingly prepare and serve your food.
